LOS ANGELES, CA – Grooby’s Kristel Penn will be hosting a free workshop from 4-4:50pm PST today titled, “Model Wellness: How and Where to Get Help When You Need It” as part of the online YNOT Summit.

“The purpose of this free workshop is to help those in the adult industry, whether performers or producers, find competent and affirming mental health care services,” explains Penn. “A complaint I hear often from our community is folks wanting to see a therapist but feeling like the process is extremely confusing and stressful only to have them receive subpar care. This workshop considers how the unique intersectional identities of the adult industry community affect how seeking mental health care is navigated and how it also informs the type of care people might need.”

Penn is Grooby’s longtime Creative and Editorial Director. She is an outspoken adult community advocate and hosts educational workshops across the country to help destigmatize the adult industry and the consumption of porn. Previous speaking engagements include the Contemporary Relationships Conference, Catalyst Con, Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit, Kink’s educational series, YNOT Summit, and more.

“Model Wellness: How and Where to Get Help When You Need It” is a 50-minute educational workshop. Below is the workshop description:

Navigating the mental health system can be a labyrinth filled with confusing technical jargon, safety and privacy concerns, plus the fear of being judged and discriminated against because of your profession. Not to mention the extra task of trying to find a competent and affirming therapist who understands the unique concerns of being a sex worker. In this 50-minute workshop, adult industry advocate and MA in Psychology student, Kristel Penn, shares the 411 of different mental health services and its pros/cons (e.g. the difference between therapy and life coaching, different types of providers), finding a sex worker affirming provider, interviewing and selecting a potential professional, and navigating the system with/without health insurance.

Those interested in attending may register for free at YNOTSummit.com.

IMG_1518.jpeg

LAS VEGAS, NV - Trans adult industry icon Wendy Williams recently shared her views in a piece published by YNOT Cam, discussing if increased trans adult content indicated larger social acceptance of trans individuals overall.

“Anytime I can speak about social acceptance especially towards the trans community I am always ready and open for discussion,” said Williams. “Thanks to YNOT for always including trans awareness within your platform.”

“Does More Content Mean Greater Social Acceptance?” asks Williams and fellow adult stars, Casey Kisses and TSBlondieNYC, if they believed there was a connection between the two. The interview can be viewed here: https://www.ynotcam.com/2019/10/11/does-increased-content-consumption-mean-wider-social-acceptance/

In the piece, Williams discusses how trans visibility in porn can be a double-edged sword in society. “Visibility means we can say loudly ‘WE EXIST,’ but others then can use our existence for political issues that actually hurt our existence,” she said. “In the long run, we will need those bumps in the road if we want to further a positive agenda.

Voting Begins for 2018 YNOT Cam Awards

logo.jpg

Hollywood, CA – Voting is now open for the 2018 YNOT Cam Awards, which take place October 24th at the historic Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Webcam models, clips artists, adult industry professionals, and fans of interactive adult entertainment are all invited to visit Awards.YNOTCam.com to cast their votes in support of their favorite performers.

“The YNOT Cam Awards are all about celebrating the rise of interactive adult entertainment and the beautiful and talented women and men who perform in this sector of the adult industry,” explains Connor Young, CEO of YNOT. “Traditionally the media spotlight has been on adult video stars, but YNOT believes webcam performers and clips artists deserve their own big night to celebrate the work they do which is fundamentally different than the work done in adult video productions.”

Unique to interactive adult is the personal relationships that fans develop with their favorite entertainers, something that wasn’t possible with traditional adult entertainment.  Webcam performers provide companionship to their faithful fans, while clips artists create unique content that delivers a customized experience for their customers. The YNOT Cam Awards looks to highlight and celebrate the performers who provide these popular services, and to provide them with an opportunity to develop even deeper relationships with the people who appreciate and support them.”

The vision of the YNOT Cam Awards was embraced early by top Platinum sponsors ImLive, Studio20, Chaturbate, and Flirt4Free. Gold sponsors iWantEmpire, FreeWebcams and Terpon also signed on early to support the event.

According to top exec, Mugur, of Studio20, this event is a chance for the models, and also the studios and cam networks, to grow relationships with customers.  It’s also a time for the cam networks and studios to recognize their performers in a night of appreciation for their work.

“We are so excited to see voting for the YNOT Cam Awards starting,” says Mugur.  “All of the Studio 20 models who were nominated for this amazing event, plus all 18 of our studios and over 1000 colleagues around the world, are looking forward to this opportunity to interact with the fans. A Cam Award is the perfect opportunity for fans to show their love and appreciation for models, and is a perfect moment to give back to models for that amazing happiness they offer their members every single day.”

Flirt4Free exec Jamie Rodriguez, whose company also chose to support the event with a top Platinum sponsorship, also expressed a desire to see models rewarded for their work.

“We’re thrilled to have some of our talented models nominated for different categories in this first show,” says Jamie Rodriguez from Flirt4Free.  “We know how hard our models work all year long and look forward to seeing them shine.”

YNOT CEO Connor Young has great respect for how interactive adult services give performers a previously unprecedented level of control over their professional lives.  As the international community continues to evolve its views on the treatment of women, as well as vulnerable men, he believes the adult industry also needs to embrace opportunities to be a part of the solution.

“In the past few years we have heard all kinds of horror stories from women about the kinds of abuse they regularly encounter,” says Young. “Many men who always thought of themselves as advocates for women have paused to take a fresh look at their own behavior and to commit to changes.  Men too have told their own stories of abuse. The adult industry has obviously not been immune to these upsetting stories. We see the industry evolving towards positive changes, most overtly in the webcam and interactive space where the power dynamic has shifted and respect between performer and fan has amplified.  Performers have more control than ever before, and that’s a good thing for everyone. It should be embraced and celebrated.”

YNOT welcomes fans, as well as industry, to be a part of this celebration.  A full list of the nominees can be found on YNOT.com, including links to each nominee’s Twitter page.

To reach the voting page and cast a vote, a YNOT ID account is required.  Voters who already have their YNOT ID accounts setup should login at Awards.YNOTCam.com to go straight to the voting page.  Those without a YNOT ID can first create one at www.YNOTID.com.
